The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus #1) - Rick Riordan

Title: The Lost Hero

Series: Heroes of Olympus

Author: Rick Riordan

Publisher: Albin Michel Wiz

Rating: 5/5

Read in French

Pitch:
Jason has a problem.
He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper, and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?
Piper has a secret.
Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare about his being in trouble. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits during the school trip, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.
Leo has a way with tools.
When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about, and some camper who;s gone missing. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god. Does this have anything to do with Jason's amnesia, or the fact that Leo keeps seeing ghosts?

Mon avis :
I couldn't wait to start a new series from Rick Riordan. I went through the Percy Jackson's series at the speed of light (a book per day!) so when I was able to start this series, I just couldn't wait. Honestly, at first, I was taken aback. I felt like Jason feels during the first chapters. It was the same world as Percy but not exactly the same. It was really weird.
Anyway, I was soon taken into the story, the quest and all the adventures. I liked Jason and Leo but didn't particularly care for Piper. It's not that I didn't like her but I couldn't get used to her character and behavior.
On the contrary, everything else is just amazing. Rick Riordan at his best. I don't know how he manages to do that but each one of his books is a pleasure to read and seem even better than the one before.
The quest is addicting, the plot twists are plenty... I loved this book. And that ending! That cliffhanger! It's almost cruel to leave us hanging like this! I can't wait to read the next book as soon as I can get my hand on it! Ah, I hate waiting!
